Maxima Expands Healthcare Access for Foreigners in Partnership with Poliklinika Hůrka
Prague, March 21, 2025 – Maxima Insurance Company has entered into a strategic partnership with the Innova Healthcare group to improve access to healthcare for foreigners. This new model integrates medical services and a pharmacy under one roof, allowing clients to collect their prescribed medications without the need for payment – all costs are settled directly between the pharmacy and the insurance company.
"Our goal is to provide maximum simplicity and convenience for our clients. We're eliminating unnecessary administration and saving time and energy for those who no longer need to worry about medication payments or complex paperwork," says Roman Jandík, Director of Retail Insurance at Maxima Insurance Company.
Most Common Health Issues Among Foreigners
Based on available data from the first quarter of 2025, the most frequent health problems faced by foreigners include:
- Influenza and upper respiratory tract infections, which typically lead patients to visit a general practitioner.
- Acute cystitis (the most common urinary tract infection), requiring consultation with a GP or a urologist.
- Joint and back pain, prompting visits to a GP or orthopedic specialist.
Innova Healthcare group facilities provide medical care to approximately 100,000 patients annually, including foreigners, who are able to communicate in several major world languages. A wide range of medical services is offered – from general practitioners for adults and children, to gynecology and 11 other specialties, as well as a blood testing laboratory and a modern pharmacy.
Utilization of Contracted Healthcare Providers
Statistics from the first quarter of 2025 show that clients actively and regularly use the network of contracted healthcare providers. Visits to these facilities remain steady and evenly distributed over time, confirming that the contracted medical network is an important and accessible part of clients’ healthcare. This trend suggests continued interest in the services of our partner providers throughout the rest of 2025.
"The partnership between Maxima Insurance and Innova Healthcare introduces an entirely new concept of healthcare for foreigners – one that is both comfortable and highly efficient. A client books an appointment, receives a diagnosis, and immediately picks up prescribed medications at the pharmacy – without having to pay a single crown," says Markéta Hellerová, Executive and Medical Director of Innova Healthcare.
This new model means that Maxima clients no longer need to pay for medications out of pocket and then seek reimbursement. The entire process is handled automatically between the pharmacy and the insurance company, bringing commercial health insurance for foreigners closer to the standards of the public health insurance system.
Maxima Insurance and Innova Healthcare are also considering expanding this model to other medical facilities across the Czech Republic, which would allow this service to be extended to additional partner pharmacies.
