Insurance against natural hazards

Insurance against natural hazards covers damages to or destruction of a building, hall or construction, movable assets, stocks of materials and products, and employees’ belongings located in your establishment, or third party’s items taken over or used in connection with business activities, such as items taken over for repair or items leased, including the subject of the lease.

Basic insurance against natural hazards covers damage to or destruction of insured items due to:

  • fire
  • explosion
  • lightning strike
  • impact or crash of an aircraft, its part or cargo
  • sonic boom

Additional insurance against natural hazards can be taken out to cover damage to or destruction of insured items due to:

  • flood or flash flood
  • windstorm or hailstorm
  • landslide
  • earthquake
  • heavy snow and ice
  • vehicle impact (except for aircrafts)
  • fallen trees, poles and similar objects
  • smoke
  • water damage

If a building is insured against water damage, the insured’s is also entitled to the insurance benefit in the event of:

  • damage to piping or heating units, including fittings, or to water supply installations due to overpressure or freeze-up
  • damage to boilers, tanks and exchanger stations of heating systems due to freeze-up
